Japan also sends used and unnecessary cars to Bangladesh at low prices. The Japanese do not use one car for long. So the quality of the car is not too bad. Again, it is not the case that damaged cars are sent from Japan. These cars can only be imported if they maintain a certain standard of second-hand cars.

The main reason for this attraction of Bangladeshi car buyers towards the automotive market of Japan is that Japan offers the opportunity to buy many models of second-hand cars at low prices. In terms of quality, Japanese second-hand cars have a worldwide reputation. Used cars in Japan are more popular in Bangladesh because of their reliability and reliability. And the parts that come with these cars in Bangladesh are also available at a fair price.

In other words, it can be easily said that the acceptability of these second-hand cars is also increasing day by day. A second-hand car imported from Japan can be used effortlessly on the country roads for 10-15 years. It is not just that there is so much demand for Japanese second-hand cars in Bangladesh. There is a huge demand for Japanese cars in almost all countries.

Bangladesh imports a large number of Japanese cars every year. About 80% of the vehicles on the roads of Bangladesh are imported from Japan. But the biggest limitation of importing all the cars is that cars have to be right-hand drive cars to be brought to Bangladesh. Because right-hand drive cars run on the roads of Bangladesh.

How is the car shipped?

Cars from Japan have to be brought to Bangladesh by sea. The ships arrived in Dhaka via Chittagong port. Among Japanese cars, Toyota cars are the most imported in Bangladesh. Because Toyota has the highest demand in Bangladesh. The process of bringing a ship from abroad is usually called ‘roro’. Roro means ‘Roar On’ and ‘Roar Off’. Conditions for importing vehicles to Bangladesh: Second-hand Japanese cars, microbuses, tractors, minibusses, jeeps, and old cars can be brought from Japan. However, some conditions and rules have to be followed to bring these second-hand cars.
Used cars can only be brought from the country where they are made. The third cannot be brought from any country. That is, made in one country, can not be sent from another country.
Vehicles cannot be older than four years.
To determine the age of imported cars, the age of the vehicle must be calculated from the first day of the year following the chassis production.
To import a car in Bangladesh, the cars have to have 'right-hand drive' - that is, the steering wheel of the car should be on the right side.
The certificate issued by the Japan Auto Appraisal Institute should include the age, model number, chassis number, etc. of the second-hand vehicle. These certificates must be submitted to the Customs Authority.
Since the process is long term storage should be kept in the port for at least one month.

Work permit and original passport.
Invoice for registration and determination of the age of the vehicle.
Original copy of the shipping bill.
Import for foreigners, in case of export, an import permit from the main regulator.
Title and certificate of registration.
Certificate of the country of origin (certificate of the country in which the car was made).
Authorization letter for car import.
A full report of the condition of the vehicle.

Tax on imports:
Import tax 0-40%.
2.5% import tax is levied on infrastructure development.
You have to pay 15% for VAT.
One thing to keep in mind is that excise duty is levied on imported vehicles. In Bangladesh, only a few privileged or diplomats can import duty-free cars. Besides, other people in Bangladesh and even foreigners have to import cars with the same amount of tax.
